A poils !

Into the wild

Don't worry! Even if getting closer to a greener lifestyle is definitely part of the picture this year, there's no way I can turn off my computer so easily and settle in a cabin like this one. And staying away from movie theaters is also impossible for a moviegoer like me (Ever read this book by Walker Percy ?). So there are (at least) two motion pictures you should see these days. "Into the wild" by Sean Penn will show you nature as much as US contemporary society and "The Island" by Russian Director Pavel Lounguine (which at one point reminded me of Shohei Imamura's "Narayama Ballad") will almost make you feel the bite of snow (and possibly guilt). Both movies lay heavily on the main actor's performance - Emile Hirsch and Piotr Mamonov - both breathtaking.

A flower has no reason

...says the poem. Here is an interesting specimen seen on trade show Première Classe (or was it Who's Next ?) Anyways. Rest your eyes for a sec or steal the idea for your own home decoration. Enjoy the week-end!

Karl and Nadège

Here's also what you could see on Prêt-à-porter Paris : arty and didactic installations.Thumbs up for the talented green dream team, represented here by Nadège. Big up to the gifted portraitist of Karl. Keep up the good work, artistic directors and stylists. Trendsetters, bloggers, cutting edge fashion designers, unite!

Rodnik rocks

Look at these pretty faces. Designers Rich and Phil sent them to represent Rodnik's "rock" T-shirts. The name Rodnik refers to a shop opened in Moscow in the early XXth century. It means "the source". In spite of the poetic name, don't expect anything quiet with them either. Punchy prints match flashy colours. Not so romantic but certified organic.

UK flavour

One of the pleasures of being a journalist is meeting incredible people. UK based designer Katharine E. Hamnett is definitely one of them. It's reassuring to see how committed she is to organic cotton and to "in your face" fashion. Her T-shirts, sweat-shirts, bags and even baby wear are colourful, bold and absolutely trendy. Punk is not dead!
